Regent Taipei Wins Golden Dolphin Trophy & Best Camera/Photography
Regent brand image has been further heightened with Regent Taipei’s win of the Golden Dolphin Trophy and Best Camera/Photography at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards this year. Regent Taipei’s “Craft”, a short Wizard Film focusing on Chef Andre Chiang’s culinary venture in September 2012 at Regent Gourmet Gallery, took home two awards – the coveted Golden Dolphin Trophy in the category “Fairs and Shows, Events and Meeting Openers,” and “Best Camera/ Photography” in the overall category “Production Arts and Crafts.” This is the first time in the history of the awards that a Taiwan-based company has won the Dolphins.
In addition to the famed Cannes International Film Festival, the town in France is also recognized for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, which focuses on creative advertisements, and the Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards, specifically for corporate films, online media, and TV documentaries. This year, the Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards welcomed 719 entries for 36 categories from 40 different countries. Each entry is carefully graded, and the pieces with the most points win the coveted Gold Dolphin Trophy, and runners up win the Silver Dolphin Trophy. Black Dolphin Trophies are awarded to winners in the Production Arts & Crafts categories, and the highest praise, the Grand Prix White Dolphins, are for top winners selected from the existing first-place winners.
Regent Taipei’s winning piece “Craft” was produced for the “ANDRE @ Taiwan” event at Regent Gourmet Gallery in September 2012. With delicious cuisine from André Chiang, custom decorated menus by renowned illustrator Page Tsou and sculpted tableware by prominent potter Ian Chu, the event included elite gala dinners at the Gourmet Gallery. Produced by Wizard Films, the film’s noted production team members include director Shih-Ming Chang, photographer Cliff Tang, and producer Thomas Chen. Through Wizard’s charmingly hypnotic storytelling and technical expertise, “Craft” incorporates the very basics of harvesting food, creating cuisine, 2D art, and 3D sculptural art. Leaders from Taiwan’s flourishing agricultural industry and top business companies were also invited to help create the 4-minute film, and “Craft” is undoubtedly an inspirational peek into the building blocks of creative minds.
“I loved the visual style and expressive techniques of this film, and I was even more pleased to know about its wins at Cannes this year,” says Mr. Steven Pan, Chairman of FIH Regent Group. “Thanks and congratulations to the team at Wizard Films, for promoting Taiwan and Regent in an amazing light on a global scale. Regent always strives to create a five-star platform for showcasing the best local and international talents, including top chefs, artists, and leaders in society. Interacting on this global stage creates unparalleled experiences, and the success of this film notes the success of our efforts.”
