Museums
The history of the region is inextricably linked to slavery, shipwrecks and the once-vital salt industry and there is a good collection of exhibits relating to all three to be found in the Turks and Caicos National Museum; just a few minutes away from the Regent Palms resort. The Molasses Reef Shipwreck, which dominates the museum’s entire first floor, offers a fascinating insight into what ranks as one of the oldest shipwrecks ever to be found in the Western hemisphere and boasts an impressive list of cannons, carpentry tools and surgical instruments dating back to the early 1500’s.
