Something Special for Home
Bali is an Aladdin’s Cave of fine art and authentic handicrafts, jewellery, antique furniture and delicately-carved wooden or stone carvings and even if retail therapy wasn’t top of your list when you came here, you are sure to end up with some fascinating and irresistible buys.
International labels and local designer clothes rub shoulders here and if you long for a truly unique memento of your stay, the island’s many highly-skilled tailors and dressmakers offer a reliable 24-hour turnaround.
Bargaining in shops, markets and art emporiums is normal practice and getting a good price depends largely on keeping one's nerve. Bargaining forms a large part of the fun of shopping in Bali, so remember to carry cash and be patient and good humoured. Shops are usually open from 10am to 11pm and those selling similar items tend to be grouped together to allow for easy price comparisons. Be warned that credit cards are not accepted everywhere.
